Imagine being separated from your best friend or family member for over 20 years! It's unimaginable, am I right? That was the reality for elephants Shirley and Jenny. After 22 years the two crippled elephants were reunited at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. Both elephants were rescued from a circus, where Jenny was born and Shirley was already being put to work. Together they lived as a part of the circus until they were separated. When the two were finally reunited again it was amazing! The emotion they showed brought tears to my eyes. Throughout the night they even bent the metal bars to try and get closer. Finally, human Scott opened the cage for them to be close and they embrace. This is beautiful and now they can live out the remainder of their lives together.
