A long-running rumour has finally been confirmed: Aamir Khan is indeed going to have a special appearance in Zoya Akhtar's upcoming film 'Dil Dhadakne Do'. The film, slated for release on June 5, is a dramedy about a dysfunctional Punjabi family, the Mehras, who are on a cruise with several friends and family members.

However, the 50-year-old star will not be seen in the already star-heavy film, which features Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, and Anil Kapoor. Instead, Khan will be lending only his voice to the Mehra family's pet — a bullmastiff named Pluto Mehra. According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, Pluto is the "only sane member of the otherwise dysfunctional Mehra family" and spends the film commenting on the going-ons with an objective eye.

The report also says that Pluto's lines have been written by none other than Javed Akhtar, Zoya's father. An unnamed source quoted in the article says that "the sad-looking mastiff perhaps has the best lines in the movie".
A moment from a press interaction held last Wednesday at Khan's residence, where HuffPost India was also present, now makes more sense. When asked to confirm or deny this rumour by several journalists, the actor had hesitated a little too long, albeit with a twinkly-eyed grin. He eventually responded by saying: "I do feel, though, that 'Dil Dhadakne Do' looks like it could be the biggest hit of the year."
Of course you do, Aamir.
