#1 Take a second to imagine this scenario: A 30lb porcupine vs. a 4 meter python.
Who do you think would be the winner if these two fierce animals did battle?
#2 Well, the snake vs. porcupine fighting match really did take place recently.
And this is how the snake looked when the Lake Eland Game Reserve employees found him.
#3 The snake that swallowed the porcupine was an African rock python.
The snake's body was 4 meters long, and his head alone was 14 inches! Just take a look at that on a ruler — it's astounding.
#4 When they found the snake, he was already dead.
Employees opened him up to find the porcupine inside... So, what happened exactly?
#5 An employee of the reserve commented that the snake's exact cause of death cannot be determined.
ennifer Fuller said, "'It is apparent that several porcupine quills were lodged inside the digestive tract. It had fallen off the rocky ledge. We don't know if it died beforehand or whether the fall drove some of the quills into its digestive tract."
#6 The quills had lacerated the snake's digestive tract.
While they could not determine the exact cause of death of the python, it was clear that the porcupine did some real damage:
#7 A lump in his throat.
Though we cannot know for sure if it was the porcupine's quills or the fall off the rocky ledge that killed the snake, it was clear that the porcupine put up a good fight.
