The Trailer For Bengali Film 'Ludo' Could Give You Nightmares

Director Qaushiq Mukherjee, aka Q, isn't quite known for holding back. The director of edgy and envelope-pushing films such as 'Gandu' and 'Tasher Desh' is back with an indie horror film called 'Ludo', which has been co-directed by him and the similarly-named Nikon (not a camera; his real name is Rajarshi Babu, according to the movie'sFacebook page, and he has edited two of Q's films).

The film, which most notably stars Bengali actresses Rii ('Gandu', 'Cosmic Sex') and Tillotama Shome ('Shanghai'), is about four teenagers who, in the hope of finding some privacy, decide to spend the night in an abandoned mall. However, soon enough, the night turns from passionate to absolutely terrifying, as an old woman and a ludo board enter the picture.

The trailer, which was uploaded on Sunday, may be one of the goriest we've ever seen, featuring copious amounts of blood, nasty violence, and possible cannibalism. Many might not be able to stomach it, but fans of shlock horror might be pleased to finally see a worthy entrant in this genre from India.
American film website Twitch Film wrote about the trailer, calling it "very, very different". 'Ludo' has already been picked up for international distribution by Paris-based sales agent Reel Suspects, who have previously represented master filmmakers such as Jean Luc Godard and Chris Marker.

Watch the trailer above. Not for the faint-hearted.
