NEW DELHI -- Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested and taken to the Hauz Khas police station on Tuesday morning following an FIR lodged against him last night over his alleged fake law degree.
The BJP has alleged that Tomar’s undergraduate certificate from the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University in Bihar, where claimed to have received his undergraduate degree in law, is fake. Tomar has rejected these accusations, and the Aam Aadmi Party government has backed its minister's claim of his degree being authentic.
Tomar has been charged under IPC Section 420 for cheating. AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that Tomar had been arrested without any notice.
