Bye Bye To Flipkart On Desktop? It's Likely To Go Only-App From September

NEW DELHI—Less than two months after fashion e-tailer Myntra switched to an app-only strategy to the surprise of many, parent Flipkart is reportedly all set to shut its website and go app-only starting this September.
Citing unnamed sources, Times Of India says that Flipkart's chief product officer Punit Soni informed employees about the development at a town hall meeting last week.
Flipkart, which is the parent company of Myntra, is clearly following the fashion store's footsteps. In May, Myntra shut down its website citing higher traffic from its app versus its desktop website.

Myntra had justified its move by saying that 95 percent of Internet traffic comes through mobile and 70 percent sales are generated through smartphones.
It seems Flipkart's reasons are similar. "70-75% of its traffic comes from its app," a Flipkart spokesperson told HuffPost.
The e-commerce site neither denied nor confirmed the move. However, the spokesperson said that they are "constantly experimenting" with their service.
“India is gradually transitioning from a mobile first to a mobile only country. At Flipkart, we have been following a mobile first approach and 70-75% of our total traffic is already coming from our mobile app. We are constantly experimenting with various aspects of our service to create the best shopping experience for our users on our app," the spokesperson said.
