Bye Bye To Flipkart On Desktop? It's Likely To Go Only-App From September


NEW DELHI—Less than two months after fashion e-tailer Myntra switched to an app-only strategy to the surprise of many, parent Flipkart is reportedly all set to shut its website and go app-only starting this September.
Citing unnamed sources, Times Of India says that Flipkart's chief product officer Punit Soni informed employees about the development at a town hall meeting last week.
Flipkart, which is the parent company of Myntra, is clearly following the fashion store's footsteps. In May, Myntra shut down its website citing higher traffic from its app versus its desktop website.

Now, Flipkart Takes a Dig at Rival Snapdeal

Escalating their business rivalry on Twitter, Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal today took a pot shot at Snapdeal, saying India should not be blamed for the latter's failure to hire "great engineers".

This is the latest instance where a top executive of successful technology enterprise has taken to the social media to express opinion against a rival.

Those wanting to get their hands on the latest Xiaomi sensation, the Mi 4i, can do so on 25 and 26 May on Flipkart, sans any registration. Looks like companies are now making a shift towards open sale as Lenovo and Flipkart have also announced an open sale of the A6000 on the same days.
