After the deaths of Pepeng and Mpok Nori, another renowned Indonesian comedian, Didi Petet, passed away this morning. He was 58.
Didi Petet had just arrived in Indonesia after making a trip to Milan, Italy.
“Uncle Didi came back to Indonesia on the 10th [of May] from Milan after attending an exhibition there. In Milan, he fainted at one point, and when he arrived at the airport [in Jakarta] he was in a wheelchair,” said Didi Petet’s niece, Muthia Kautsar, as quoted by today.
Muthia added that Didi Petet was taken to a hospital in Bandung for treatment. But his health deteriorated and he passed away this morning.
It’s not yet known what illness Didi Petet suffered from.
Didi Petet’s funeral is being held today in Sasak Tinggi, Ciputat, South Tangerang.
Didi Petet rose to prominence in the Indonesian entertainment industry after portraying Emon in 1987’s ‘Catatan Si Boy’. He has been active as an actor, starring in numerous movies over the years, up until his untimely death.
