WATCH: Woman Beats Up Man In UP Police Station For Allegedly Harassing Her

A woman beat up her alleged harasser in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit district even as police officers looked on, encouraging her, instead of intervening or taking over the case. In a video that emerged today, a woman, dressed in what appears to be a school uniform, is seen beating up a man for allegedly calling her names.
As the person shooting the video tells her to start, she first gives him a resounding slap. Then she proceeds to slap him repeatedly, punch him, twist his arm, and even takes her shoe off to beat him down with it. A policeman in the background encourages her as he watches.
Though the context of the video is not clear, it appears that the man called her names. She takes her anger out by beating him in the premises of what seems like a police station.
The video ends with the man touching his ears and apologising. The woman asks him to touch her feet, which he does, immediately.

Supreme Court: Unwed Mother Can Be The Sole Legal Guardian Without Father's Consent

NEW DELHI -- In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court has said that an unwed mother in India can become the sole legal guardian of a child without the consent of the father.
The bench led by Justice Vikramjit Sen overrides existing Indian laws which require a woman to take a man's permission before applying for guardianship.
Ranjana Kumari, a women's rights activist and director of the Delhi-based Centre for Social Research think tank, described it as a "progressive stand."
The plaintiff, a government official, approached the Supreme Court in 2011 after a trial court and the Delhi High Court ruled that she needed to disclose the father's name to get his consent while filing a guardianship petition.
