Salman Khan Verdict Was Pakistan's Top Story Too

In July 1982, Amitabh Bachchan had an accident during the shooting of Manmohan Desai's Coolie. As a stunt went awry, his fall on the edge of a table caused such massive internal bleeding that Bachchan, they say, almost died. In his own words, "I went into almost a haze and a coma-like situation. Within five days of coming into Breach Candy, I had another surgery and didn't come out of that one for a very, very long time...I was clinically dead for a couple of minutes."

An Open Letter to Salman Khan by NDTV's Ravish Kumar

Salman Bhai,

One afternoon in 1989, I stepped out in Patna after watching Maine Pyar Kiya.  Aamir Khan's film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak had released the year before. Watching that movie was an impromptu decision as well. In two years, I found two heroes - Aamir Khan and you. Your films became a part of my life. In 1991, when Saajan released, I had moved to Delhi. At that time, you appeared like a novice. You hesitated to speak, but when  you were unable to talk, your body spoke with an articulate language. An intense look trumped the inability to speak and would take cinema-goers along. You looked honest, and spoke with calmness.

In 1994, your film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun released and I liked it a lot. It was similar to Maine Pyaar Kiya. Baghban was also from this genre of family-oriented Hindi cinema. But later, I read criticism of Baghban and these other films, and felt they entertain, but don't leave a lasting impact, and we as cinema-goers sometimes naively are so moved by emotion that we lose objectivity. But that ability to connect at such an emotional and immediate level meant you started becoming my hero. After Govinda, if any other actor had a mass following, it was you.

Salman Khan Verdict: Singer Abhijeet Compares Pavement Dwellers To Dogs

MUMBAI — Abhijeet Bhattacharya, a Bollywood playback singer who was especially popular in the '90s, found himself at the centre of a swirling controversy on Twitter after he compared homeless people to dogs in a baffling tweet clearly aimed at defending Salman Khan who was convicted today in a 12-year-old hit-and-run case.
As the Mumbai Sessions court sentenced Khan to five years in prison, several celebrities in Bollywood (especially those known to be close to the star) tweeted sympathetically in support.
Among these tweets, the one that stood out most was this one by Bhattacharya:

Shah Rukh Khan Showed Up At Salman's Place For Moral Support

Even as the country awaits the verdict of Salman Khan’s nearly-13-year-long hit and run case with bated breath, the star is surrounded by an equal amassing of supporters and haters. Amidst the former is actor Shah Rukh Khan who reportedly visited Salman’s residence on Tuesday night. SRK was spotted driving to Salman’s Galaxy Apartments in the later hours of the evening.

Popular Bollywood blogger Miss Malini also tweeted out an image of the 'Happy New Year' star visiting Salman.

Several videos were also recorded of the actor exiting his car, and heading to the apartment.

Over the years the two actors have resolved their long-stand rivalry to finally become friends: They fell out in 2008 at Katrina Kaif’s birthday, and finally made up last year at Salman’s sister Arpita’s wedding. Arpita, and her husband Aayush Sharma were also present at Salman’s apartment yesterday to show their support.

Salman Khan Gets Five Years In Jail

Salman Khan was on Wednesday, May 6 sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment by a Mumbai sessions court, which convicted him of culpable homicide in the 2002 hit-and-run case, dealing a big blow to the Bollywood superstar.
Judge D W Deshpande, who held the 49-year-old actor guilty of "all charges", including driving under influence of liquor and not possessing a driving licence, pronounced the sentence after a 45-minute adjournment of the proceedings.
A big crowd, mostly of Salman’s fans, thronged around the court located in Fort area of south Mumbai.
The actor, who had fought back tears after being convicted, looked calm and composed as the judgement was read out to him in the presence of his close family members.
